It doesn't seem as if Nashville is ready to decide whether the weather wants to be a balmy springtime flower fest or a festering frigid combination of ongoing wintertime chills and rain. Regardless of how many more winter weeks we'll have to endure, springtime is definitely here to stay at Gallery One. Bloom is a small group show featuring Jennifer Bain, Thea Schrack and Maggie Hasbrouck. All three offer floral studies, mixing media to different effects. Hasbrouck's photo-encaustic blossoms bloom against painted backgrounds, and Bain's mixed media works on paper are the strongest among her offerings. Schrack's photo-encaustic works bring attention to the details of the images she incorporates and her "Blue Willow" pieces are the highlight of the show. - - Joe Nolan
