An accomplished professional illustrator, Rebecca Ruegger's
artwork has been used by major corporations in their advertisements,
annual reports and promotions for over 15 years. Her work has
been commissioned by American Express, Proctor & Gamble, Ernst
& Young, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, American Airlines and Random
House, among many others. In recent years, Ruegger has turned
her attention to fine art, creating captivating landscapes and
figurative works that make great use of atmosphere and texture.
Ruegger favors working in watercolor and
pastels, with the occasional use of collage using found items
such as paper, lace, and feathers. Her compositions reflect
what many of us may not see in our busy lives.
Ruegger's dreamy, understated landscapes capture the
tranquil scenes of the ponds, trees, fields, hay bales and changing
skies that surround her rural Tennessee home.
"I'm trying to create an atmosphere of peace or solitude
in my landscapes," says Ruegger, who paints the farm that she
shares with her husband, two dogs and cat.
"The figurative works are done from imagination. Again,
I am simply trying to present a particular feeling or atmosphere
in these compositions."
Ruegger received
the top award for her work at the Central South Regional Art
Competition in 2003, and her paintings can be found in private
collections across the United States, Mexico and Europe.
